Home / Products / Outdoor fireplaces

Outdoor fireplaces that turn a deck into a room.

Free-standing steel outdoor fireplaces, built-in fireboxes for masonry surrounds, chimineas and stainless flue kits, fabricated from heavy plate and corten so they take years of hot fires without warping. Made to the size of your patio, not a catalogue.

The range

Free-standing, built-in or up the wall.

An outdoor fire gets hotter than a brazier and is used all winter. We build them from plate heavy enough to stay flat, with a flue that draws properly and an ash tray you can actually empty.

Free-standing outdoor fires

Tall corten or black steel fires with an enclosed firebox, a flue and a wood store underneath, for decks and patios.

Built-in fireboxes

Steel fireboxes and smoke shelves to be built into a masonry or block outdoor fireplace, sized to the opening.

Chimineas & wall fires

Compact wood-burning chimineas and wall-mounted outdoor fires for smaller courtyards.

Flues, cowls & hearths

Made-to-length 304 stainless flue sections, cowls, wall brackets and plate hearths.

Questions

Common questions about outdoor fireplaces and fireboxes.

Does an outdoor fireplace need consent?

A free-standing outdoor fire usually does not, but built-in fireplaces and anything near a boundary or a building may. Check with your council. Auckland also has open-fire and smoke rules in some areas.

What steel do you use?

Fireboxes are 5–8 mm mild steel or corten, so they hold heat and do not buckle. Flues are 304 stainless. Painted fires use high-temperature paint and will need a touch-up every few years; corten is left to weather.

Can you build a firebox into my existing fireplace?

Yes. Send the opening size and a photo and we fabricate a firebox, smoke shelf and flue adapter to slide into the masonry.
