Boat cradles built around the hull and the work ahead.

Boat cradles

We fabricate substantial metal cradles for stationary boat storage and maintenance. The frame, keel support and padded hull-contact points are planned around the vessel and the boatbuilder or yard's support brief, leaving access where the maintenance work needs to happen.

01 / The support options

Support the boat where it is designed to be supported.

Hull shape alone does not identify the right support points. We work from the vessel information and the boatbuilder or yard's requirements, agreeing the base, contact pads, bracing and setup before the cradle is made.

01

Hull-support cradles

Braced metal frames with padded supports positioned around the vessel's approved contact areas for stationary storage or workshop work.

02

Keel and side-support frames

An integrated metal base with keel support and side-support positions arranged to the supplied vessel brief, using protective non-marking pads where required.

03

Maintenance cradles

Frames arranged to leave agreed working areas accessible for repairs, coating or component access while maintaining the specified support arrangement.

04

Replacement cradle metalwork

Replacement frame sections, braces and pad mounts for an existing cradle, checked against the original support design and current vessel requirements.

02 / Price & scope

Indicative stationary boat-cradle pricing.

Planning estimates in NZD, excluding GST. Vessel weight and shape, support detail, bracing, protective finish and the supplied design determine the quote.

Scope & other costs

Boat handling, lifting, transport, site setup and any required engineering are separate unless included in the written quote. This guide covers stationary support cradles; transport and lifting equipment require their own design and quote.

04 / The practical details

Questions about custom stationary boat cradles.

Can you build a cradle for my particular hull?

Yes. Send the vessel dimensions, weight and the boatbuilder or yard's support information. Matt can fabricate the frame around those contact locations and the access you need, with non-marking pads chosen for the hull surface.

Can it support a heavy boat?

Yes. We build substantial frames around the vessel and its support requirements. The boat weight, load distribution, ground conditions and required design verification are agreed for the individual cradle before fabrication.

Can I move or lift the boat using the cradle?

The cradles described here are for stationary support. If the cradle needs to travel, be lifted or interface with handling equipment, include that requirement at the start so a separate design and verification scope can be quoted.

Who positions the boat on the finished cradle?

The boatyard or boat-handling team sets up the cradle and positions the vessel to the agreed support plan. Send their handling and ground-support requirements before fabrication so the base, clearances and pad locations work with their setup.
