The range

From a deck stair to a floating feature staircase.

A steel stair is a permanent fixture and has to be right the first time. We check the rise and going against the site, fabricate to the engineer's detail and install with the handrail so it is one job, not three.

Mono & twin stringer stairs

Feature stairs on a single central spine or paired stringers, with timber or stainless treads and glass or wire balustrade.

Folded-plate stairs

Zig-zag plate stringers for a clean architectural look in houses and offices.

External & deck stairs

Galvanised stringers with checker-plate or timber treads for decks, retaining walls and back doors.

Mezzanine & fire stairs

Industrial stairs and landings to the mezzanine or the roof, with kick plates and handrails to code.

Questions

Common questions about steel stairs and stringers.

Do I need an engineer?

Internal and most external stairs that are part of a building consent need a producer statement from an engineer. We fabricate to their detail and can point you to engineers we have worked with.

What treads can you fit?

Solid timber, checker plate, stainless, folded plate with a timber or stone insert, or open grating for external stairs. Treads are usually supplied by us and fitted on site.

Do you install?

Yes. Stairs are trial-fitted in the workshop, then delivered and installed by us, usually together with the handrail or balustrade.
